History Of The School
Little Flower High School, an English medium co-educational school was established in the year 1972 by Late Rev. Fr. Valerian Goudinho, with a view to cater to the educational needs of the children of the industrial laborers residing in the locality. As there were no good English medium schools in Vartak Nagar and Pokhran, the parents were compelled to send their children to far off schools in Thane City. There was a lot do inconvenience then, as the frequency of bus service was very poor. Late Rev. Fr. Valerian Goudinho took up the mission to establish a school.
The school began functioning in a small rented premise – MHADA Building No 47 in Vartak Nagar. Initially the school began with two divisions each of KG., STD I & STD II. There were only few teachers who worked double shift – morning and afternoon. Today each class has five divisions.
In the year 1979, due to the growing number of pupils the school was relocated at its present location at Pokhran road no 2. The School now provides education to students from Nursery to Std. X. The first batch of SSC comprising of one division of 31 students appeared for the board exam in March 1982.
The school is a Government recognized, unaided institution governed by the Archdiocese of Mumbai and affiliated to the Archdiocesan Board of Education.
The primary purpose of the school is to provide education to the catholic children of the locality. However pupils of other faiths are also admitted in the school, and their religious feelings and freedom of conscience is duly respected without sacrificing the Christian character and Ethics of the institution.
Little Flower High School, from its humble beginnings has grown and flourished into a full-fledged institution providing ample opportunities and facilities for the pupils to bloom, grow and shine in various fields of life.
